Spinhenge: ESL vs. P3Dnow - Let the race begin!
| |||
![]() After taking the 1st spot in Rosetta@Home by storm in only a few months, we focused our combined computing power on Spinhenge@Home, a German project from the University of Bielefeld. We have done a good job so far by reaching the 2nd spot and have been challenged to a race by the current leaders of the ranking - Planet3dnow. The operators of Spinhenge asked us to wait until January. So now it's time - Gamers, please start your engines!
The starters pistol fired at 12 o'clock today (7th January) and the first team that reaches the mark of 15 million credits at Spinhenge wins this "race". And now it's up to you! Every single computer counts, the installation takes only a few minutes and after the setup you have to do nothing with the program at all.
How to participate in 5 easy steps: 1) Download and install the BOINC client: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php 2) Set your projects to "Spinhenge@home" ( project url: http://spin.fh-bielefeld.de/ ) "Rosetta@home" ( project url: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ ) "Quantum Monte Carlo at Home (QMC)" ( project url: http://qah.uni-muenster.de/ ) "Einstein@home" ( project url: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ ) Note: You have to create a new account for each project, but it should be the same e-mail address and the same nickname as at the other projects! 3) Join the ESL team for each project 4) Add your "BOINC Cross-Project ID" as a game account in your ESL profile (32 characters in length, consists of numbers and letters) 5) Change the balance (Resource Share) of each project to match the current ESL strategy. Please do not write support tickets for BOINC, only write in the forum where almost all questions are answered. This race is officially supported by the Spinhenge@Home team. On top of a special statistics page, there will also be an award for the winning team which will be permanent on the project page. Further information on "distributed computing" can be found in the Distributed Computing forum. Happy Crunching! P.s. Their will be a special and unique Race-Award for your support and crunching. Further details will be announced soon.
